Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica

I've been lucky to travel quite a bit for work this year, but was pleasantly surprised when one of the assignments came in as a 3 day conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica at an all inclusive resort. I'm always happy to travel, especially to exotic locations in the Caribbean.

NYBG Celebrating 100 Years of Jazz

Despite the light rain and grey sky the jazz concert at NYBG last night was awesome. A Centennial Tribute to the first recording and the international roots of Jazz led by powerhouse Latin jazz trombonist Chris Washburne and Brazilian virtuoso pianist André Mehmari.

Drawing from Catskill Jazz Factory’s smashing sold-out The French Connection series, this world premiere takes audiences on a journey from the vibrant energy of European swing through the wonders of French mélodie and chanson. Traveling across four decades of Franco-American music, swing to the hot jazz rhythms of Django Reinhardt to the playful melodies of French chanson. Horne’s ensemble pulls influences from traditional folk to Debussy, Ellington, and Porter, to the enchanting French Songbook, from Edith Piaf to Jacques Brel to Serge Gainsbourg.
